Isolation transformer
An isolation transformer is a device that is used to transfer an AC power source into an appliance whilst successfully isolating any connection between the power source and the power being supplied to the appliance.
This prevents any possibility of an electric shock or a short circuit as all of the power is being transformed through the device, not the actual electrical circuits. It is particularly useful for powering two wires that cannot be touched together or to minimise the chance of getting injured from a high voltage shock.
